OCTOBER 24TH GLOBAL MOBILIZATION TO FOCUS ON COPENHAGEN CLIMATE CHANGE CONFERENCE PDF Print E-mail

YOU ARE INVITED….. TO JOIN A COALITION IN GREENFIELD TO PLAN A DAY OF EVENTS OCT. 24TH

INITIAL MEETING:Thurs. June 11 5:30-7:45pm At Greenfields Market  
 
Who:

bike riders, farmers (CISA), youth, churches/interfaith council, Coop Power local council, chamber of commerce, Maya’s puppets, local food vendors, GCC community, charter schools, all school environmental clubs, service agencies, businesses (Greenfields Market, Barts, Solar Store, PV2, Hope & Olive), Ride Buzz, CET, Greenfield District Heating, GCTV, 4-H clubs, Garden Club – and more!
 
What: all things are possible! Some ideas so far….

    * Forming a huge “350” on Beacon field, that can be photographed from Poet’s Seat

   * A parade from Beacon to GHS for a day of activities (the high school is available that day)

    * What gift do you want to give? What do you want to learn?

    * Scavenger hunt to find highlights of Greenfield’s energy conservation improvements

    * Workshops addressing HEAD (films, educational), HANDS  ( skills, like back yard composting,  weatherization, bike repair, gardening, winter food storage) and HEART (rituals honoring seven generations, music, drama, poetry contest, letters to Copenhagen representatives, forming Neighborhood support groups for mutual aid and celebration)

    * Next Steps for Greenfield to become a sustainable, resilient community – what do we need that don’t have (shoe repair, seed bank, communication system, vision for town as learning community, weatherization teams for low-income home owners and renters, etc)

   * Ways to have fun together – puppets, jugglers, games, contests (school classes submit drawings to do with protecting the Earth)
