My name is David Singer and I am running for Town Council for Precinct 5. I have lived in Greenfield for 23 years. My children grew up in Greenfield. My law office is in Greenfield. Over the past 14 years, I have been active in Town government. I have served on the following committees: School Committee for 6 years, 2 as Chair; 1 year on the Charter Commission as an ex officio member, 2 years on the Central Maintenance Committee, 3 years on the Zoning Board as an alternate member, and currently as the Chair of the Building and Planning Committee. Basically, I love this Town. I am running for Council because I believe I can bring a different approach to Town Government and help move Greenfield in a positive direction. I am a lawyer and a mediator. I have experience with bringing people together and solving problems. I don’t have all the answers, but I know how to ask questions, and I know how to frame and facilitate a discussion so that people understand how much in common they share. I want to help stop the anger, the negative conversations, and the blame. I want to encourage ideas and I want to move Greenfield in a new direction. We can do it. We have the people power to make this Town great, but we need to coordinate efforts. Why should you vote for me and not Beth Adams? Some differences are that I have many years of experience with our local government, I have lived in the community and our neighborhood for many years, I have recognized skills in team building and I am independent. I am also a professional mediator who has helped resolve complex matters. The ones who will help unite us are the “reasonable” people. I wish to serve you in that way. Please vote for me on Tuesday, June 10, 2008.
