“This School House Rocks,” a children’s musical based on the popular television cartoon series in the 1970’s and 1980’s, will be presented Saturday, November 14, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, November 15, at 3 p.m. at Second Congregational Church, 16 Court Square, Greenfield, MA.
Intended for children ages 7-15 and their families, the show provides humorous insight into such typical school topics as grammar, science, economics, history, mathematics, and civics, through songs and snappy dialogue. Performers include many children from Franklin County.
Co-directors Adam and Kate Therrien, both graduates of Hartt School of Music in Hartford, CT, hope to establish an active children’s theater program in this area. Ms. Therrien, an elementary music teacher in the Springfield school system, choreographed the production. Musical director Adam Therrien is a professional musician and guitarist with the Lin Preston Band, which will provide live music as the house band. The Therriens work with the Youth Group of Second Congregational Church and advise the group’s musical band, “The Jedis of Jerusalem.”
All proceeds from the show will benefit the Faith Fund at Second Congregational Church in support of its community outreach activities. Tickets are $3 for children and $6 for adults at the door. The first 50 children under 12 come in for free for both shows. |

May we try some poetry? (The Staff)
If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you, If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too; If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or being lied about, don't deal in lies, Or being hated, don't give way to hating, And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise: |
